Hyderabad: The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India, held its first convocation ceremony for the Master of Science in Packaging Technology at the Dr Marri Chenna Reddy HRD Institute, Jubilee Hills, here. This momentous occasion celebrated the achievements of the first and second batches of MSc in Packaging Technology graduates.

Prof V Balakrishna Reddy, In-Charge Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological Uni-versity Hyderabad (JNTUH), graced the ceremony as the chief guest and distributed certificates to the students. RK Mishra, Director of IIP, Mumbai, also attended the event, delivering an in-spiring address.

In his speech, Prof Reddy congratulated the graduates for their successful transition from stu-dents to professionals. He emphasised that the five key factors influencing businesses today-Globalisation, Liberalisation, Digitalisation, Privatisation, and Covidisation—would shape their careers. He encouraged the graduates to innovate and leverage these trends to benefit global so-ciety.

Mishra highlighted the growing importance of packaging professionals in the modern economy, particularly in Hyderabad, a city known for its industrial and educational significance. "The packaging industry is expanding rapidly, and this is a golden era for packaging professionals," he said. He also advised students to stay updated with technological advancements, noting that sim-ilar concerns about job losses arose during the 1980s when computers were introduced, but tech-nology instead created more jobs and improved efficiency.

Mishra further shared that IIP is expanding its infrastructure, with a new Packaging Lab set to open in Mumbai by 2026, and a recently launched regional center in Lucknow. He concluded with a heartfelt message to the graduates, urging them to always remember their roots: “Your mother gives you birth, and your institution gives you intellect—never forget either,” he said.

A total of 30 students received their convocation certificates, with Aparna from the first batch being awarded a gold medal for achieving the highest marks. The MSc in Packaging Technology course equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing them for successful careers in the ever-evolving packaging industry.
